I know it’s been forever and a day since I posted on here. I have been busy working hard on my TFJ blog and am buried under an avalanche of uni work with a new internship beginning this week as well.

Since i am so super busy, i decided that it’s too hard to try to keep my TFJ, fortunatley frivolous, facebook and tumblr followers all happy at once..and tweet at the same time! so i have decided to mesh my fortunately frivolous blog in with my tumblr seeing as i only use it for pretty pictures but i still want to have it around.

so that means my dear readers that i will be shutting this down soon as all my content has now been shifted over to tumblr.

so i haven’t really been blogging on here much of late..the reason for this is because i have been pouring my heart and soul into my ‘the fashion journo‘ blog. basically as of monday i am going to make it my full time job and try to get my readership up and turn it into a trustworthy website which of course, will take lots of time and effort.

i will try to post on here when i can but i will be focusing on TFJ. If you’re a lover of fashion and beauty or even just slightly interested then i would love it and really appreciate it if you could follow and/or like TFJ on facebook. i’ll be posting up lots of men’s fashion and beauty news soon too so don’t worry it’s not all girly stuff guys!

the only problem is, is that we all know i’m saving my monies for europe so i can’t really fork out $300 to buy one, not to mention the gold hardware is sold out online.

i decided i’m going to go for a vintage shop and see if i can find a hidden gem, fashionistas on the internet have reported that they’ve mostly found their in an opp shop or have had it handed down to them from mothers/gradmothers. other have said ebay, but in the land of aus these belts don’t seem to have made much of an impact in the 70s/80s so no one is selling real ones on ebay.

i thought that perhaps i will buy myself an ‘imitation’ [which i hate with a passion, but considering my current financial sitch...] until i can afford to buy a real one. that way i can see if i even bother to wear it enough to make $300 worth of it.

what’s your advice?

lipstik ‘maywest’ in black

i had a pair that were…well not really like this but they had the whole ‘clog’ look about them. unfortunatley i wore them so much that the sole cracked and i had to throw them out or fall to my death. i was trying to talk myself out of these as i can’t really wear them through europe…they’re not sensible for ample amounts of walking. then i figured…i can wear them here! so i bought them.

note: they are very slippery on tiles. shall try to remember to walk slowly.

okay now..some of you might be thinking “wtf are they?” and others may be thinking “wow they’re amazing!”..obviously i agree with the latter despite what mother/sister/work friends say. i mean, some customers actually come in, look at these, and laugh. although most our clientele are old ladies.

anyway. i loved these! they were like AUS$150 and i could not justify them because, well europe obviously, even with my 40% discount. but then they were marked down to AUS$50 and i was like, hell yeah! they need lots of concentrating when walking in as they are about 15cm high. although this is normal compared to some of my other skyscrapers.

i am making a vow to wear high heels more. i only wear them if i go out, and i have always wanted to work them into my daily outfits [not at work though as i have to stand for 8 hours and cannot handle that]. i’m thinking i might just slip some foldable flats in my hand bag and a little bag to carry my heels in if i have to swap during the day.

as you can see i am currently wearing the nail polish. i love the colour. the polish itself is average. nail polish seems to chip really easy for me, maybe because i like to burn myself in the shower or because i don’t use a base coat or i’m just careless. OPI is always really good if you want nail polish that wont chip for ages. essie is another good brand for non-chipping.

the lippy was an impulse buy that i had been kind of considering so i just went for it. i didn’t do much research about it prior. apparently you should try to choose a nude that goes with your complexion and blah blah, i just chose whatever. but it all worked out as apparently olive skinned people [like myself] suit any nude colour!

after all the research i did i think i’m ready to trial the lippy and possibly write a review and an info article on how to wear nude. are you guys checking up on my tfj site??…i will blog about my progress with that shortly too!

i decided to use a pop of colour on my lips to brighten my look a little. it didn’t come out very well in the picture below but it’s like a bright orange colour.

today i decided [without much convincing] to skip the gym and go shopping instead. i have been bitching and moaning about the state of my hair of late. it’s not the best. i have done many evil things to it in the past, including bleaching, burning and shearing. so i decided if i want to have healthy hair i should probably take care of it…of course whilst i was shopping for hair stuff i got distracted and picked up a couple of other things too.

so this is what i bought!!

they were actually really expensive compared to what i found online. i wanted to buy them in big w but of course, the only thing big w had was the pantene hair treatment [which was $2 cheaper in big w].

i did however make one other purchase which did come from big w and was considerably cheaper than where i bought my beauty supplies from.

VS Sassoon ‘studio tools instant heat ceramic curler’ AUS$19.94

i’ve wanted a curling iron for ages but never bothered to actually look into it. since now is not really the best time for me to be spending money on such things [european adventure 2012 is exactly 4 months away!] i thought i’d opt for the cheapest one i could find in a decent brand.

i gave it a test run when i got home. my hair was quite oily [story of my life] but it still worked great. i have really fine hair so curls don’t normally last all that long unless i put a shit load of hair spray in. i’m looking for more of a wavy-gossip-girl-type look. i was pretty impressed with it and my test run.

weird pose but. anyway.

one side came out a bit better than the other because i held it in for longer. i later watched a vid on how to use it and you’re meant to hold each curl for 10-20 seconds. and apparently i should have the heat on a lower setting because my hair is fine. however it is also so limp that i actually need to put the curler as hot as it can go otherwise nothing happens.

i think i shall do a review of this on my tfj blog.

i also tried out the pantene treatment. i shall post about that on tfj also.

i used: mushrooms, capsicum, sundried tomato and baby spinach leaves.

the recipe included a sort of home made sauce that involved tomato sauce and tomato puree but that didn’t sound very appealing to me so i bought some snazzy herb and garlic sauce that was 99% fat free or something. it’s the salt you need to look out for though. it had a lot of sodium in it.

twas very delicious and easy to make!
